Terms of use

These terms are an agreement between you and 1026 Ventures, LLC, which runs Cool Big Things. By using the site or creating an account, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

Using the site

• You must be at least 13 to create an account.
• Keep your email account secure, since anyone who can read it can sign in as you. You are responsible for what is posted from your account.
• One person, one account. Don’t pretend to be someone else.
• Don’t scrape the site in bulk, try to break it, or use it to send spam.

Check before you drive

Attraction details, hours, access and directions come from public sources and visitors, and they change. We do our best, but we can’t promise anything is accurate or open. Always check before you go, obey local laws and signs, stay off private property, and travel safely. You visit attractions at your own risk.

What you post

• You keep ownership of your photos, tips and comments.
• When you post, you give 1026 Ventures, LLC a free, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, show, resize, crop and share your post on Cool Big Things and in posts that promote it, such as our social media accounts. We will credit your display name where practical.
• The license ends when you delete the post or your account, except where it has already been shared or is needed for legal reasons.
• You promise that you took the photos you upload (or have the right to post them), and that your posts follow our photo and comment rules.

Claiming a page

Towns, tourism boards and attraction owners can claim a giant’s page for free. By claiming one you confirm that you work for or are authorized to represent that attraction or its town, and that what you add is accurate and yours to share. We review claims and every update before they go live, and we can decline, edit or remove them, or end a claim, at any time. A claim doesn’t give you control over visitors’ guest book entries, photos or comments.

Our right to moderate

We review photos before they appear. We can decline, hide, edit or remove any post, and suspend or close any account, at any time, especially if it breaks these terms or the rules. The first approved visitor photo of a giant may become that page’s main photo.

Badges and features

Badges, the Giants Passport and other features are for fun. They have no cash value and we may change or remove them.

Other people’s content and links

Wikimedia Commons photos belong to their authors and are used under the license shown with each one. Links to other sites, including affiliate and sponsor links, are their responsibility, not ours.

Copyright complaints

If you believe something on the site infringes your copyright, email hello@coolbigthings.com with the page link, the work you own and your contact details. We will remove infringing material and close repeat infringers’ accounts.

Disclaimers and limits

The site is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, 1026 Ventures, LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for anything that happens on a trip you plan using the site, and our total liability is limited to $100.

Changes and ending

We may update these terms and will change the date above when we do. You can stop using the site and delete your account at any time. These terms are governed by the laws of California, USA.
